The Lyon’s project exclusively involves new buildings for which tendering procedure has included specific targets both for Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and Energy Efficiency (EE), a comprehensive approach that guarantees the best integration of those two main components of a sustainable construction technology.
Poly-generation through the combination of solar thermal panels (1 243 m2), wood-fired boilers (2.4 MW), and natural gas back-up boilers provides a fully secured supply system for heating and DHW for all the buildings involved in RENAISSANCE area, with a significant ratio of over 80% of sustainable energy sources and roughly 35% of the commons electricity consumption, with 89 kWp of build-integrated photovoltaic (PV) added to the basic 15% of RES are being demonstrated.
The Lyon demonstration area will develop innovative methods concerning both technical issues (solar passive and low energy design, very high levels of RES, integrated monitoring systems) and social issues (tendering procedures, relationships with private developers, social mixing, promotion and training activities, social monitoring…). |
