CONCERTO Plus - WHAT HAS BEEN DONE IN 2006?
|
2006 was the first year of CONCERTO Plus during which CONCERTO actors from the 9 CONCERTO projects and the CONCERTO Plus team worked very hard together toward common goals. A vast array of exciting new activities have been undertaken since the beginning of year.

| CONCERTO Plus, as an initiative of the European Commission, with the purpose to support the CONCERTO projects with dissemination, socio-economic and technical monitoring, as well as policy recommendations focused during this first year on: |
- establishing contacts between the CONCERTO projects, their partners and involved communities to promote and support the knowledge exchange
- collecting information from the CONCERTO projects and communities and make the efforts of the CONCERTO projects visible on the European level
- carrying out first analyses of the current status of the projects related to technical and non-technical monitoring.

One of the highlights during the last year was definitely the ‘CONCERTO Opening’, A three-days conference organised by CONCERTO Plus in Brussels. The Opening enabled the CONCERTO project partners and the involved communities to meet for the very first time face to face and exchange knowledge on the specificities of their projects and identify possible synergies. A very good example for the network that has been built up through this event is the CONCERT’ACTION day in Tudela (see also the full conference report in this issue). The idea of this day was discussed at the CONCERTO Opening and contacts were built up during the CONCERTO Opening. |

This year also saw the establishment of a Corporate Identity for the CONCERTO projects with a common logo and guidelines to provide a common umbrella and guarantee the immediate recognition of the CONCERTO initiative.
The CONCERTO brochure was published and acts as a manual to retrieve all important information on the CONCERTO initiative and the projects involved. It is available in EN, FR, DE, IT and ES in hardcopy and on the CONCERTO Website www.concertoplus.eu in electronic format. More communication material produced by CONCERTO Plus include a flexible set of Power Point presentation slides highlighting the basic information about the CONCERTO initiative and the CONCERTO projects in EN, FR, IT and ES. The CONCERTO general poster available in EN, FR, DE, IT, ES and PL gives an idea about CONCERTO at a first glance. All hardcopies are available from euro.keys@eurokeys.com. |
CONCERTO Plus reacts to the wishes of the communities: In response to the request from the CONCERTO communities to stay in regular contact with the CONCERTO projects and be informed on ongoing issues in the communities active in the CONCERTO initiative a monthly information email for CONCERTO partners has been established and is sent out every month since October.

CONCERTO Plus - WHAT IS COMING NEXT?

The first year was characterised through the establishing of a communication network, the defining of a common approach towards monitoring and dissemination issues together with the 9 CONCERTO projects and their communities.
The second year will see the redefining and fitting of methods and tools discussed together with the partners to accompany the CONCERTO projects during the next years in the best possible way.
For this reason the CONCERTO projects will be visited regularly by CONCERTO Plus experts to discuss and share the experiences gained. This, together with the communication work carried out will help to spread the concept of sustainable cities all across Europe. |

To address the different target groups the CONCERTO DVD is planned to be presented in early 2007. It gives an introduction of the CONCERTO initiative, its background and purpose and shows examples from the different communities. As such the CONCERTO DVD provides easily accessible information in an entertaining way .
A series of 9 thematic posters will also be available soon to illustrate the wide range of topics addressed by the CONCERTO initiative. The pictures below give already a first impression.
